The Mission of FIRST®
The mission of FIRST® is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
FIRST offers a suite of robotics programs for different age groups, from young learners building with LEGO bricks in FIRST LEGO League, to middle and high schoolers designing advanced, high-performance metal robots in FIRST Tech Challenge. These programs emphasize Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition®, teaching students that fierce competition and mutual gain are not mutually exclusive.
Our Core Values
We emphasize teamwork, inclusive problem-solving, and hands-on learning. We want our students to experiment, fail safely, learn rapidly, and build the confidence to tackle real-world engineering challenges.
